Powerful high-pressure areas are extending from the Arctic Ocean across Eastern Europe to the Black Sea. This means that Atlantic fronts are currently unable to advance towards Central Europe, nor is the path eastwards across Northern Europe clear. They must therefore now divert to the Mediterranean region, where they will cause lively low-pressure activity in the near future. For us, this means calm, fine weather with only moderately cold winter temperatures until Thursday. The weather will become somewhat more changeable from Friday onwards, an Italian low-pressure system could even bring us a little precipitation with a snow line around 1000 meters above sea level by Saturday morning. However, it is still questionable whether this precipitation will actually spread from the main Alpine ridge to the northern edge of the Alps. In any case, there will be no significant new snowfall, as high pressure will subsequently become stronger than low pressure. However, temperatures are likely to drop somewhat more sharply and persistently.
