Galtür Nordic Volumes 2026: The cross-country skiing event that brings everyone together

The Galtür Nordic Volumes, taking place from 26 to 28 March 2026, will transform Galtür into a stage for sprint professionals, recreational skiers and young talents for three days. Spectacular courses, sporting challenge and an alpine atmosphere make the event one of the most diverse cross-country skiing experiences in the Alpine region – and a strong component of the Tirol³ Nordic Challenge.

From 26 to 28 March 2026, Galtür once again invites participants to the Galtür Nordic Volumes – a highlight for cross-country skiing enthusiasts of all levels. The high-alpine mountain village presents itself as the perfect stage for an event that combines sporting challenges, youth development and a shared community experience. As part of the Tirol³ Nordic Challenge, Galtür also positions itself as one of Tyrol’s most influential Nordic venues.

A diverse race programme for all target groups – over three days

From 26 to 28 March 2026, the Galtür Nordic Volumes offer a three-day race programme specifically tailored to children, recreational athletes and ambitious cross-country skiers.

·         26 March 2026: Kids & Juniors Race

The opening event is aimed at young athletes. Depending on age group, participants compete in either freestyle or classic technique over distances of 350 m (K7–K8) or 730 m (K9–S15). Participation is free of charge; the focus is on fun, first competition experience and a sense of community.

·         27 March 2026: Nordic Sprint Race

On the second day, the action takes place on the 1,300-metre sprint course with 21 metres of elevation gain per lap. Following an individual time trial, a knockout format (top 16) with exciting heats takes place – a format that appeals to both beginners and professionals. The race is open to recreational skiers and ÖSV athletes; results count, among other things, towards the Austria Cup and as an official FIS competition.

·         28 March 2026: Cross Country Climb

The final day features the alpine classic: the Cross Country Climb leads from Galtür through the Vermunt Valley to the Silvretta Bielerhöhe. Participants can choose between three distances: LIGHT (300 m of elevation gain, an easy introduction), NEW: MEDIUM with 27.9 km / 580 m of elevation gain, and HARD (for experienced cross-country skiers, with up to 900 m of elevation gain). This ensures an appropriate challenge for every performance level.

Registration for the races is available online.

Internationally connected – locally rooted

The Galtür Nordic Volumes are part of the Euroloppet series and are therefore integrated into an international cross-country skiing circuit that connects high-quality European popular races. Holders of a Euroloppet Pass can collect valuable points for the official overall ranking within this series and position themselves in a Europe-wide competition. Starting in Galtür thus becomes not only a sporting highlight, but also an officially recognised component of the international Nordic series ranking. In addition, an expo area provides space for exchange, advice and a strong sense of community. Partners from the Paznaun – Ischgl region, including Fischer Sports and many more, will also be on hand.

Tirol³ Nordic Challenge – Nordic expertise in harmony

The Galtür Nordic Volumes are a fixed part of the Tirol³ Nordic Challenge, which for the second time brings together the three largest Tyrolean cross-country popular races – Dolomitenlauf, Ganghoferlauf and Galtür Nordic Volumes – into a joint, cross-regional series. From the wide valley landscapes of East Tyrol, through the traditional cross-country region of Seefeld, to the high-alpine scenery of the Paznaun Valley, the initiative creates a sporting and tourism-focused arc across Tyrol. The aim is to position cross-country skiing not only as a competitive sport, but as a holistic winter experience, shaped by movement, enjoyment of nature and regional diversity. Over the entire winter season, this creates a comprehensive Nordic experience that combines sporting challenge with tourism value and highlights Tyrol as one of the most diverse cross-country destinations in the Alpine region.

At the heart of the Tirol³ Nordic Challenge are three distinctive events that unite different landscapes, course profiles and regional identities:

  • Dolomitenlauf: 16–18 January 2026
  • Ganghoferlauf: 28 February – 1 March 2026
  • Galtür Nordic Volumes: 26–28 March 2026

The Tirol³ Nordic Challenge is deliberately not aimed exclusively at performance-oriented athletes. The focus is on commitment, endurance and enjoyment of movement – regardless of rankings or personal best times. Anyone who takes part in all three events at least once receives a 10% discount on the total entry fees. In addition, gold, silver or bronze medals and certificates are awarded, depending on the total distance completed.

The concept is complemented by a team classification that underlines the communal character of the series. The ceremonial presentation of the winning team takes place as part of the award ceremony at the Galtür Nordic Volumes, where the top five women and top five men of the Tirol³ Nordic Cup are also honoured for their outstanding sporting achievements. In this way, Galtür positions itself as the high-alpine finale of a strong, cross-regional cross-country skiing initiative that showcases Tyrol’s Nordic expertise in an impressive and sustainable manner.

Cross-country skiing region of Galtür – authentic, alpine, exceptional

With around 80 kilometres of perfectly groomed trails, high altitude and an impressive mountain backdrop, Galtür is one of the outstanding cross-country skiing regions in the Alpine area. The event benefits from the combination of snow reliability, alpine terrain and first-class infrastructure.

The Galtür Nordic Volumes 2026 combine sport, nature and community, turning the cross-country skiing season into an inspiring highlight for everyone who lives and loves this discipline.
