Intro
Easy hike from Galtür village square to the Larein Alpe
Description
The district of Tschaffein is reached via the shore path or the opposite Maasweg path. At Haus Trisanna you will cross the bridge, the hike then continues pleasantly along the road to the Stafali fork in the road. Stafali Pond is wonderfully located in the middle of the forest and its cosy barbecue areas invite you to stay and relax for a while. From there the turn-off for Lareintal can be reached in around ½ hour, this way leads you in the end to Lareinalm. Lareinalm, a really nice cosy place to stop-off, also provides you with the chance to sample and purchase tasty treats from the Paznaun region, such as milk, cheese and butter. Alternative: hike to Mathon, go past the sawmill and take a right, climbing through the forest to Larein Alpe and back via Stafali Pond. Return section: forest trail to Galtür.
Arrival
The autoroute (A12 (westbound) or A14 (eastbound)) leads you to the Arlbergschnellstraße (S 16). At the exit for Pians, turn onto the Paznauntalstraße (B 188) and follow its course into the Paznaun.
Parking
At the Arzthaus Galtür or at the Sports and culture centre Galtür
Public transport
With the railway station in Landeck, the Paznaun is optimally connected to the Austrian train network. From Landeck-Zams station, only a short bus ride separates you from the Paznaun. Every half hour, line bus 260 runs from there through the valley. Bus stop: Galtür Dorfplatz
